Fraser Coast Backyard Farmers
Initiated by growers and producers at the Food and Agricultural Industry Forum held in February, an exciting new group has been formed – the Fraser Coast Backyard Farmers.
This working group aims to reach out to backyard growers and those who live in rural residential areas to help make their land productive, and investigate ways to develop the local supply chain.
The group is made up of a range of participants including permaculture experts, horticultural training schools, community garden leaders and natural pest control enthusiasts.
Brendan Condon of Stickit Rural Training said that while the concept was still in start-up phase, it is a great opportunity for people of the Fraser Coast to see what amazing products are available locally.
“We will work together to identify more opportunities in produce and agriculture in the Fraser Coast that will be easy for our Backyard Farmers to develop.”
