Hervey Bay Ocean Festival coming soon!
The annual Hervey Bay Whale and Hervey Bay Seafood Festivals are joining to create the Hervey Bay Ocean Festival.
Running for 9 days this August, the festival will incorporate the Blessing of the Fleet, Paddle Out for Whales, Whale Concert and Parade and the famous Seafood Festival. Adding to this calendar will be activities across Hervey Bay, including movie screenings, workshops and education programs.
Leigh Bennett, interim General Manager for Invest Fraser Coast (FCO), said the new festival would persuade people to travel to the region during this time.
“This collaboration of events is a positive move for the Fraser Coast. We are now re-positioning ourselves to be able to package and market the new Hervey Bay Ocean Festival to entice visitation during the whale season, increasing yield and length of stay.”
“Between seafood and whales, we are celebrating two heroes of Hervey Bay. We are really looking forward to working with the Hervey Bay Seafood Festival to deliver an impactful 9 days of events”, said Mr Bennett.
Elaine Lewthwaite, President of the Hervey Bay Seafood Festival Association, said she was looking forward to partnering with FCO to deliver the first Hervey Bay Ocean Festival.
“The Hervey Bay Seafood Festival and the Hervey Bay Whale Festival have been long time favourites that many people travel for each year. Now we will be able to leverage off each event to deliver an amazing festival that will showcase the regions natural attributes and the magnificent wild catch seafood from the pristine waters of the Fraser Coast.”
“With this partnership we aim to be able to reach an even larger audience throughout Queensland to attract them to the Fraser Coast,” said Ms Lewthwaite.
