Come see the new Relish Marketplace
Wednesday January 20 will mark a new beginning for the Relish Food Story on the Fraser Coast, with the opening of the Relish Marketplace.
On Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm over coming months, Invest Fraser Coast has teamed up with the Pialba Place Shopping Centre to deliver this new concept. The Relish Marketplace offers the public an opportunity to gain inspiration and learn about regional produce in a space designed for demonstrations, workshops, information sharing and also some market stalls.
Week one will have local favourite Honor Tremain presenting on ‘Food as Medicine’ at 10am – including information on how to use local, inexpensive ingredients to make recipes that trigger weight loss, slow aging and prevent disease.
A champion for the Relish Food Story, Ms Tremain commented that “it is fantastic to see this new development for the region. Food plays a big part in our health and when we are eating well we feel great, and can also support the local businesses who are owned by the friends and family we know so well”.
Centre Manager of Pialba Place, Sherrie Stone, is excited to partner with Invest Fraser Coast and believes this exciting new initiative will empower the region to produce and operate a food hub of substance.
“Focusing on sustainable, ethical food, and raising community awareness to share the stories of our local growers is something our centre feels passionate about. We are proud to support this initiative, and ultimately believe its success will have far reaching benefits for the Fraser Coast”.
The marketplace will offer a small number of Relish Food Story members the opportunity to sell their products each week. This week Bakehouse 13 and Mary Macon will be on hand with Somerfield’s Quality Meats & Café Creations also providing demonstrations.
