Food Tourism Forum for the Fraser Coast
A FREE Agritourism Forum is being held today, Monday February 29 at the Brolga Theatre, Maryborough from 2pm.
Building on the Fraser Coast Food Story, the Food and Agritourism Forum invites producers, value adders, retails and restaurants to attend and learn from industry experts.
Hosted by James Corvan of Tourism Guru, the forum will aim to educate and inspire locals to use, sell and promote local produce to leverage their business.
“This forum will be the start of a movement – it is a free opportunity to discuss ideas, network and build on the Fraser Coast’s development of comprehensive agritourism based strategies under the existing ‘Relish’ banner.
“Food tourism is one of the hottest trends at the moment; people travel from across the world to eat authentic regional cuisines, and television is dominated by foodie shows. Now is the time to really build on all the fantastic offerings the Fraser Coast has,” said Mr Corvan.
The forum will include guest speakers to share their experiences and expertise:
- Sharon Raguse – Fraser Coast Destination Director, Tourism and Events Queensland – how you can build on brand values of the Fraser Coast and make the destination more attractive
- Amanda Hinds – Restaurateur – Indulge Cafe, Bundaberg – sharing the secrets of successfully using local produce
- Anthony Rehbein – Bunda Ginga – how farmers can change the way that food is distributed so you can take advantage of local produce
- Allison Alexander – Food Consultant, the inaugural Queensland Food Fellow – food events and how Relish Food and Wine Festival can add to the Fraser Coast food brand
