Relish Food Story – helping the region grow!
A new chapter highlighting the many flavours of the Fraser Coast is beginning with the launch of the Relish Food Story.
Invest Fraser Coast, in conjunction with industry partners, is delighted to unveil the Relish Food Story project – an extension of the hugely popular Relish Food and Wine Festival held in Maryborough each June.
Fraser Coast Regional Mayor Gerard O’Connell said the concept was to celebrate the region’s fresh produce.
“The Relish Food Story will create value for the region by bringing together everybody who grows, makes and enjoys our wonderful produce including farmers, retailers, restaurateurs and consumers,’’ he said.
“Leveraging off the strong Relish brand which has been so successful in promoting the food and wine festival, the Food Story is an exciting concept in growing local industries and enhancing opportunities for partnerships both in and out of the region,’’ he said.
Local grower John Pool, Director of Lychee Divine, said the Relish Food Story was an excellent initiative.
“Anything that can spread awareness of our high quality local produce and help us get more of our produce into the local Fraser Coast market and beyond is an exciting step forward,’’ Mr Pool said.
Relish branding on shop windows, counters and doors will encourage consumers to buy locally.
This will enable both locals and visitors to participate through events with signature dish programs, point of sales promotions and the Relish Food and Wine Festival merely a starting point for this exciting initiative.
Invest Fraser Coast interim General Manager Leigh Bennett said the Fraser Coast as a whole will benefit from this strategy.
“It has been pleasing to see the Relish Food and Wine Festival develop, and further integrating its success with supplying local. Messaging will assist the regions growers, producers, retailers and restaurants enormously,” he said.
