TEQ on the Fraser Coast to connect with industry
Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is on the Fraser Coast today to hold an open forum with local operators in conjunction with Invest Fraser Coast (FCO).
The Conversations with Industry event brings together Fraser Coast stakeholders with representatives from TEQ and FCO to discuss marketing, research, digital, experience development and events based issues for the region.
Leigh Bennett, interim General Manager for Invest Fraser Coast said it is a great opportunity to be updated on TEQ and FCO progress on the Fraser Coast.
“Conversations with Industry gives operators across the Fraser Coast an engaging forum to discuss topics that relate to them and their business. It is the first event of its kind for the region, so we are pleased to continually refresh our communications with industry to progress and develop our region,” said Mr Bennett.
Businesses from across the region will attend the event on board Spirit of Hervey Bay and participate in ‘speed dating’ with key directors and managers from TEQ.
TEQ Group Executive Destinations and Global Partnerships, Rick Hamilton, said the forums had been important for local tourism operators around the State to collaborate and discuss tourism priorities.
“This is a great platform for the Fraser Coast’s tourism industry to gain insights into marketing, tourism research, events and experience development to grow tourism to the destination,” Mr Hamilton said.
“More than 700,000 overnight visitors travelled to the Fraser Coast in the last financial year and spent more than $360 million, a six and eight per cent increase respectively on the year prior.
“The collaborative approach between TEQ, Invest Fraser Coast and the local industry is vital as we look to maximise the destination’s tourism potential.”
