Fraser Coast overflowing for touch carnival
Hervey Bay has just said goodbye to the 2016 Junior State Touch Carnival for another year, with locals saying it was a huge success, so much so, that it has been confirmed to return until 2022.
The Fraser Coast overflowed with more than 3,500 competitors, plus their families making the most of the end of the Queensland school holidays.
Peter Beard, General Manager at Ramada Hervey Bay said it had been a great way to top off the June/July school holidays.
“It’s been great to see the region buzzing with people extending their stay, making the most of the fantastic weather and spending money in the region,” said Mr Beard.
Darren Everard, Fraser Coast Regional Counsellor with the Event and Sports Portfolio said it was fantastic to see Fraser Coast Regional Council had secured the partnership until 2022.
“We have had fantastic feedback from our operators suggesting they were at full capacity for a lot of the school holidays. The touch football competition undoubtedly brings many families who extend their stay and get out and experience what the Fraser Coast has to offer during that time,” said Mr Everard.
